At a recent assessment meeting in Mendefera city, it was stated that about 79% out of nationals got admitted to Adult Education Program in the Southern region over the past 14 years have managed to read and write thanks to the vigorous effort made to this end.
Mendefera, 03 March 2015 – At a recent assessment meeting in Mendefera city, it was stated that about 79% out of nationals got admitted to Adult Education Program in the Southern region over the past 14 years have managed to read and write thanks to the vigorous effort made to this end.
In a report he presented at the meeting in which representatives from Administrative areas, the regional Assembly, line Ministries, National Associations and others took part, Mr. Belai Nur-Husein, Coordinator of the program, over 180 thousand citizens have effectively pursued studies during the years 2001 to 2014.
He also indicated that the participants of the program pursued the education in Tigrigna and Saho languages and that remarkable stride has been registered across the region. Mr. Belai further underlined the need for exerting endeavors for still more gratifying outcome through making effective assessment.
Likewise, Mr. Hibtzghi Kidane, head of the Education Ministry’s branch in the region, explained that the program comprises nationals who did not get opportunity to pursue studies at the right time and those who desire to upgrade their educational level. To this end, he called for enhanced role on the part of the PFDJ, national and public associations as regards realization of the set goals.
In closing remarks, Mr. Gebrezghi Dimam, Director General of Adult Education and Media at the Education Ministry, pointed out that the program aims at nurturing conscious and developed society through overcoming illiteracy. Moreover, he urged Administrators to pay due attention to the task of realizing the comprehensive objectives.
