NUEW branch in North America holds discussion focusing on Eritrean women’s struggle

The National Union of Eritrea Women’s branch in North America has held discussion focusing on the struggle of Eritrean women in connection with the 35th founding anniversary of the NUEW and International Women’s Day.

Asmara, 09 March 2015 – The National Union of Eritrea Women’s branch in North America has held discussion focusing on the struggle of Eritrean women in connection with the 35th founding anniversary of the NUEW and International Women’s Day.

Mr. Girma Asmerom, Eritrea’s Permanent Ambassador to the UN, the NUEW Chairperson, Ms. Tekha Tesfamichael, and Mr. Berhane Gebrehiwet, Charge d’affaires at the Eritrean Embassy in the US, opened the discussion session along with pictorial exhibition and cultural performances. Moreover, diplomats, members of philanthropic organizations, Friends of Eritrea engaged in research activities and a number of Eritrean nationals took part in the discussion.

Ms. Tekha Tesfamichael gave a seminar regarding the heroic feats, dedication, accomplishments and future prospects of Eritrean women, in addition to other seminars by different nationals.

In the course of the discussion, representatives of national organizations and the Governor of Virginia, Mr. Terence Mokoliffe, and Mr. Jerry Conley, a member of US Congress, conveyed messages of solidarity.
