Sports Week of Eastern Command got underway

Sports Week of the Eastern Command got underway with zeal at Assab Stadium on March 7.

Assab, 09 March 2015 – Sports Week of the Eastern Command got underway with zeal at Assab Stadium on March 7.

Present at the opening ceremony were Mr. Al-Amin Mohammed-Seid, PFDJ Secretary, Brig. General Teklemichael Habtu, Head of Information and Agitation Unit of the Defense Ministry, Division Commanders, heads of the Southern Red Sea regional Administration, EDF members and the general public. Reports also indicated that sports parade and cultural performances were part of the ceremony.

In a speech he delivered on the occasion, Brig. General Teklemichael pointed out that the Week is organized annually, thus giving impetus to nurturing competent sportspersons of the Defense Ministry and demonstrate higher sports capacity.

He went on to explain that the EDF is conducting effective activities in the nation-building process alongside sports through keeping intact the values of the nation.

Filfil and Ras-Dumera teams drew 1 to 0 in the first match of the Sports Week.
