The Administrator of the Northern Red Sea region, Ms. Tsegereda Woldegergis, has called for finalization of water catchment schemes being carried out through public campaign in Afabet sub-zone ahead of the rainy season.
Afabet, 16 March 2015 – The Administrator of the Northern Red Sea region, Ms. Tsegereda Woldegergis, has called for finalization of water catchment schemes being carried out through public campaign in Afabet sub-zone ahead of the rainy season. She made the call during an inspection tour in the Administrative areas of Kilamet, Gebgeb, Shabait and Mihdaf, during which the regional Administrator noted the significance of the undertakings towards enriching underground water in the area and thereby enhance activities to ensure food security. She further called on the community members in general and farmers in particular to sustain input in facilitating the task.
The participants of the campaign expressed conviction that such activities would make due contribution to raise output and voiced readiness for timely finalization of the ongoing undertakings.
The scheme underway in Amaro, Ebin Sitr, Alda, Beshlet and Mesadid would make vital impact in ensuring water supply both for humans and livestock and enriching underground water, in addition to preventing soil erosion.
