Gash-Barka region: Inhabitants called upon to enhance role in strengthening sports activities

The Administrator of Gash-Barka region, Mr. Fisehaye Haile, has called on the inhabitants of the region to enhance role in strengthening sports activities.

Administrator stressed the need for exerting joint effort anchored on community participation as regards overcoming problems being encountered in the sports domain.

Likewise, Mr. Gebreselasie Negash, Director General of Social Service in the region, noted the significance of sports in nurturing healthy citizens. In this respect, he called for the active participation of the public and pertinent bodies thereof.

Mr. Luji Hussien, head of the Sports Commission in the region, said that the necessary efforts would be made to promote sports activities on the basis of expanding organizational activities at village level and establishing clubs representing sub-zones and towns.

Report accomplishments of football, cycling, volleyball, basketball and traditional sports commissions for 2014 were presented at the meeting, in addition to Badminton and Ground Tennis committees.
