The Administrator of the Central region, Maj. General Ramadan Osman Awliyai, has called on the Association of Dairy Farmers in the region to meet demand for dairy and related products through raising organizational capacity.
Asmara, 21 March 2015 – The Administrator of the Central region, Maj. General Ramadan Osman Awliyai, has called on the Association of Dairy Farmers in the region to meet demand for dairy and related products through raising organizational capacity. He made the call during a meeting with members of the Association.
In the meeting in which Mr. Arefaine Berhe, Minister of Agriculture, took part, the regional Administrator stated that the Administration, in collaboration with partners, has been exerting persistent endeavors with a view to boosting production. He also indicated that in line with the farmers’ demand, meetings were conducted with the Ministries of Agriculture and Trade and Industry on transforming the Asmara Milk Production into being run by farmers.
Mr. Arefaine explained that the Government has been working to transform institutions to private ownership, and that vigorous activities are taking place to make safe and quality dairy products available in the Central, Southern and Anseba regions. The Minister further called on the members to put under cultivation green animal feed.
Mr. Tadese Woldeyohannes, Director General of Industry Department at the Ministry of Trade and Industry, on his part called on the Association members to assume the responsibility of raising production.
