Call made for integrated activity for reducing and preventing crime

Let. Col. Goitom Gebretsadik, head of crime prevention in the Southern region, said that the integrated activities on the part of the community and the Police is vital in reducing and preventing crimes, and called on the public to raise awareness and extend cooperation with the Police.

Mendefera, 22 March 2015- Let. Col. Goitom Gebretsadik, head of crime prevention in the Southern region, said that the integrated activities on the part of the community and the Police is vital in reducing and preventing crimes, and called on the public to raise awareness and extend cooperation with the Police.

At a meeting he conducted for village coordinators, PFDJ unites, village elders and religious leaders of Mendefera sub-zone, he said that no crime is committed without the awareness of the public, and called on the public to cooperate with the Police in identifying the criminals and bring them to justice.

He further indicated that last year 486 accidents have been registered at a regional level which have caused huge human and material lose, and that many of the accidents have been caused by vehicles.

He also stressed that many of the traffic violation are made by the youth, and called on parents to make due follow-up on their children.

The participants on their part called on sustainable awareness raising programs, follow up on bars, and strong measures on those who violate traffic regulations.
