The Eritrean National Diabetics Association yesterday held its 5th Congress.
Asmara, 23 March – The Eritrean National Diabetics Association yesterday held its 5th Congress. Mr. Mehari Woldu, Legal Counselor in the Health Ministry, explained non-communicable diseases is on the rise at global level, and hence the Ministry is exerting vigorous endeavors to combat such diseases as part of the achievements registered in controlling communicable diseases.
Likewise, Dr. Goitom Mebrahtu, Chairman of the Association, underlined the need to organize promotional activities for the public pertaining to the preventive measure and care of Diabetes through active collaboration with partners.
He also stated that Eritrea is a member of the International Diabetics Federation, and that encouraging outcome is being registered towards making available medicaments and raising public awareness regarding the disease.
Mr. Rezene Araya, Managing Director of the Association, explained that instance of diabetes is growing, and called on the members to step up participation so as to enhance the work of the Association.
The participants of the Congress elected a 15-member Managing Committee.
