Hagaz, 25 March 2015 – At a recent meeting in Hagaz town, it was disclosed that more efforts would be exerted towards improving the socio-economic livelihood of women in Hagaz sub-zone.
Speaking at the meeting in which heads of line Ministries, Area administrators, religious leaders, community elders, Army Commanders, Assembly and national association members took part, Ms. Amna Haj, Administrator of the sub-zone, noted the significant role women are playing in various domains and called on them to exert more efforts so as to register gratifying outcome
Moreover, ensuring mother and child health, mother prenatal and antenatal care, doing away with instances of underage marriage, undertaking popular campaign vis-à-vis enhanced activities to ensure food security, introducing traditional smokeless stove, are among the programs set for implementation this year, Ms. Amna elaborated.
Similarly, Ms. Jim’a Husien, Secretary of the National Union of Eritrean Women (NUEW) branch in the sub-zone, noted the vitality of greater awareness and the organizational capacity towards attaining the set objectives. She further indicated that Women Centers put in place by Eritrean women residing abroad are making due contribution in improving members’ livelihood.
Female students who demonstrated educational excellence received motivational awards on the occasion.
