Northern Red Sea region: Soil and water conservation activities envisaged

The Administrator of the Northern Red Sea region, Ms. Tsegereda Woldegergis, said that  a number of soil and water conservation activities would be undertaken this year,  in addition to reinforcing agricultural programs so as to ensure food security.

Massawa, 31 March 2015 – The Administrator of the Northern Red Sea region, Ms. Tsegereda Woldegergis, said that  a number of soil and water conservation activities would be undertaken this year,  in addition to reinforcing agricultural programs so as to ensure food security.

She made the remarks during a meeting with the inhabitants of Dahlak sub-zone. The Administrator also gave briefings focusing on accomplishments registered in soil and water conservation, economic and development programs, as well as putting in place social service facilities in remote areas.

Ms. Tsegereda also called for tripartite relations among patents, students and teachers with a view to reinforcing educational activities, and thereby promote students’ competence. She further urged the inhabitants to demonstrate active participation in the forthcoming elections.

The inhabitants of Derbushet and Dihil stated that the oncoming development programs have make significant contribution in improving their livelihood, and expressed readiness to step up participation in the implementation of set programs.

Moreover, the regional Administrator stressed the need for keeping intact the historical relics in the area.
