Hagaz, 04 April 2015 – A Week program was organized in Hagaz sub-zone as regards ensuring women’s health in general and that of mother and child wellbeing in particular.
Briefings were given focusing on the importance of breast feeding, giving birth in health centers and upgrading the capacity of health personnel and institutions. Promotional activities and students parade also featured in all administrative areas of the sub-zone.
Mr. Gebremeskel Gebrehiwet, head of the Health Ministry’s branch office, noted the significance of ensuring mother and child wellbeing vis-à-vis promoting community health. Moreover, he explained that enhanced efforts are being made with a view to doing away with female genital mutilation, motivating voluntary blood donation, vaccination programs on mothers and children, among others.
The inhabitants commended the Ministry’s commitment to ensure mother and child care, and expressed readiness to sustain the required cooperation to attain the set goals.
