Mr. Mussie Gebrehiwet, head of environmental hygiene at the Health Ministry’s branch in Hagaz sub-zone, stated that persistent endeavors are being exerted, coupled with active community participation, to reduce and control malaria infection.
Hagaz, 06 April 2015 – Mr. Mussie Gebrehiwet, head of environmental hygiene at the Health Ministry’s branch in Hagaz sub-zone, stated that persistent endeavors are being exerted, coupled with active community participation, to reduce and control malaria infection.
He told Erina that the community-led environmental hygiene is making significant impact in the prevention of communicable and non-communicable diseases. Mr. Mussie also explained that the distribution of about 50, 000 mosquito nets is underway in 16 administrative areas of the sub-zone ahead of the onset of the rainy season.
He further called on the community to do away with potential spots for mosquito reproduction and make good use of the net, besides promoting environmental sensitization.
Commending the Government’s free service rendered to citizens with a view to promoting health well being, the residents of Hagaz town expressed readiness to put-up the required input as regards controlling malaria.
Mr. Gebremeskel Gebrehiwet, head of the Ministry’s branch office, explained on his part that instances of diseases have shown visible decline thanks to the enhanced promotional activities undertaken, and underlined the significance of active community participation in the prevention and control of malaria.
