The head of the Agriculture Ministry’s branch in Mendefera sub-zone, Mr. Eyasu Asefaw, has called on exemplary farmers in the area who received selected seed for reproduction to strive for increased production of the sweet potato, and thus meet the demand for it.
Mendefera, 07 April 2015 – The head of the Agriculture Ministry’s branch in Mendefera sub-zone, Mr. Eyasu Asefaw, has called on exemplary farmers in the area who received selected seed for reproduction to strive for increased production of the sweet potato, and thus meet the demand for it. He made the call at a meeting with farmers in Mendefera, during which emphasis was laid on efforts by Agricultural experts to make the necessary follow-up so as to realize the set objectives. Tedros Misgina from the Ministry’s branch office said that studies have been made before the distribution of the seeds to the farming community. It is known that a total of 17 farmers have lived up to the set standards.
Mr. Yebio Tewolde, fruits and vegetables expert explained that reproduction of such select seeds demand fertile land and due experience. In this connection, farmers have been urged to exert persistent effort so as to attain the set goal.
