410 students graduate from Hamelmalo College of Agriculture

A total of 410 students have graduated from the Hamelmalo College of Agriculture with Master of Science and Bachelor of Science Degrees as well as Diplomas.

Asmara, 21 July 2015 – A total of 410 students have graduated from the Hamelmalo College of Agriculture with Master of Science and Bachelor of Science Degrees as well as Diplomas. The event coincided with the 10th anniversary of the opening of the College.

Ministers, Government and PFDJ officials, religious leaders, heads of higher education establishments and members of the farming community in the area participated in the graduation ceremony.

In a 10-year report presented during the event, Mr. Semere Amlesom, Dean of the College, outlined the accomplishments registered to-date in various domains.  These included, among other things, the opening of post-graduate studies, the formation of a meteorological center, the processing of milk products, poultry farming and rabbit rearing as well as the cultivation of effective exchange programmes with various Universities abroad.

Speaking on the occasion, the Minister of Agriculture, Mr. Arefaine Berhe, stressed the responsibility of graduates of the College to give the required impetus to national endeavors for developing the agricultural sector, particularly in attaining the country’s objectives of food security.

The Hamelmalo College of Agriculture has graduated 35 students with second (Msc.) Degrees, 1,264 with first Bsc. Degrees and 1,677 with Diplomas in the past eight years from 2008 until 2015.
