Ensuring women’s rights

Ms. Tekea Tesfamicael, Chairwoman of the NUEW, said that concerted efforts are being exerted to further enhance women’s rights.

 

Keren, 02 September 2015- Ms. Tekea Tesfamicael, Chairwoman of the NUEW, said that concerted efforts are being exerted to further enhance women’s rights. She made the statement at a meeting with grass root members in Keren and Ilabered sub-zones.

Ms. Tekea emphasized that Eritrean women were involved in the armed struggle both for the country’s independence and the upholding of their gender rights.   The high price paid in this struggle has ensured the bright future of Eritrean women for generations, the NUEW Chairperson underscored.

Ms. Amna Hassan, head of the NUEW Ansaba Region branch, pointed out that more efforts are awaiting Eritrean women to eliminate early marriages, FGM, and other harmful practices.
