Training on transmittable disease

A total of 22 members of the Health Ministry branch Southern region received training in the combat of transmittable diseases in general and HIV AIDS in particular.

Dekemhare September 13 2015 – A total of 22 members of the Health Ministry branch Southern region received training in the combat of transmittable diseases in general and HIV AIDS in particular. The trainings that featured practical and theoretical applications were conducted in Dekemhare, Segheneity and Digsa Hospitals respectively.

Mr. Asefaw Negasi, head of HIV AIDS Control unit of the branch office, pointed out that the training programme was aimed at enhancing public awareness.   The campaign is useful in upgrading public knowledge on the causes and consequences of transmittable disease as wells as  means and ways of controlling them.

The Ministry’s branch head of the region, Mr. Yemane Haile on his part outlined the importance of organizing awareness raising campaigns and called on the trainees to strive for controlling the spread of HIV AIDS through bringing about behavioral change in the lifestyle of inhabitants.

Based on recent medical investigations conducted in the Southern region, HIV AIDS prevalence stands below 0.65 %.
