Blindness Control Campaigns in the Southern Red Sea region is ongoing

Campaigns aimed at controlling blindness and curing those affected with various eye ailments in the Southern Red Sea Region is ongoing, Mr. Asefaw Gebremichael, branch head of the Ministry of Health in the region affirmed.

Assab, 21 October 2015 –Campaigns aimed at controlling blindness and curing those affected with various eye ailments in the Southern Red Sea Region is ongoing, Mr. Asefaw Gebremichael, branch head of the Ministry of Health in the region affirmed.

Based on this year’s medical census in the region, 123 from about 2,000 inhabitants were diagnosed with cataract and with the help of experts from Asmara, necessary eye surgeries were conducted on all of them with great success, Mr. Asefaw added.

Mr. Assefaw further stated that the MoH carries out regular campaigns and counseling services aimed at prevention and control of various eye maladies in the Southern Red Sea Region.
