Asmara, 4 December 2015 – World Aids Day was commemorated at a national level through a public meeting in Keren city on December 1st this week.
The incidence of the epidemic disease at a national level has been reduced markedly in the past years and stands at less than 1% currently. The Director General of Social Service in Anseba region, Mr. Abdulahi Al-Amin, explained that this positive result was the outcome of concerted efforts and high level of public awareness on the prevention of communicable diseases in general and Aids in particular.
Dr. Andeberhan Tesfatsion, Director General of Public Health in the Ministry urged for continued efforts to ensure further decline declined to below 1% and called on continued effort to maintain it.
World Aids Day on December 1 was observed for the 27th time worldwide and for the 24th time in Eritrea.
