Public Awareness Vital For Preserving Wildlife

The Administration of Lailai-Gash sub-zone has launched a public awareness campaign for the preservation of indigenous trees and wildlife along the National Elephant Enclosure.

Asmara, December 8 2015 – The Administration of Lailai-Gash sub-zone has launched a public awareness campaign for the preservation of indigenous trees and wildlife along the National Elephant Enclosure.

Mr. Ghide Estifanos, Administrator of the Laelai-Gash sub-zone explained that a growing number of elephants migrate to these areas during this season.  Preservation of the natural habitat and avoidance of cutting trees is thus essential to provide shelter for wildlife.

Mr. Atobrhan Yosief from Laelai-Gash sub-zone said the fact that the endangered species of the Wild life is in a better condition in the country is an asset, and that nature is generally in a good shape thanks to the prevalence of peace. In this connection, he advised nationals to resort to diligent mobility so as to avoid attack by wild animals, especially in the areas that are populated by elephants and particularly in the National Enclosure.
