Southern region will conduct activities and studies on the conservation of its rich traditional heritage
The Director General of the Commission of Culture and Sport of the Southern region, Mr. Abraham Yohannes, stated that, Southern region is going to start its studies on methods to conserve the rich traditional heritage.
Asmara, December 8 2015 – The Director General of the Commission of Culture and Sport of the Southern region, Mr. Abraham Yohannes, stated that, Southern region is going to start its studies on methods to conserve the rich traditional heritage.
During the meeting attended by artists and government employees on the 7th December, Mr. Abraham explained that there are numerous important cultural heritages which need to be studied and according to the initial research undertaken; a working plan has been agreed upon by stakeholders.
Mr. Abraham pointed that the first priorities are given to the protection and conservation of historical places, archeological remaining, traditional music, dances and songs and also spoken history. He also reminded the society to corporate in these endeavors.
He further explained that conserving the meaning and traditional names of historical buildings and villages found in the zone are also including in the working plan.
Participants stressed that the plan would be an opportunity to deeper studies on the history of the Eritrean civilization.
