6th Commencement of Orotta School of Medicine and Dentistry

A total of 25 Medical Doctors who have been pursuing their studies at the Orotta School of Medicine and dentistry for eight years graduated on Saturday, December 12.

Asmara, 15 December 2015 – A total of 25 Medical Doctors who have been pursuing their studies at the Orotta School of Medicine and dentistry for eight years graduated on Saturday, December 12.

Speaking at the graduation ceremony in which senior government officials, the School’s stakeholders, diplomats, invited guests and parents took part, Ms. Amina Nur-Hussein, Minister of Health, asserted that the GOE’s vigorous endeavors in promoting social services is yielding tangible results.

The Minister explained that human resource development constitutes one of Eritrea’s top priorities.   The current batch of graduates will add impetus to these efforts as they will play their role in augmenting the delivery of public health services.

Dr. Haile Mihtsun, Dean of the Orotta School of Medicine and Dentistry stated that the institution has six departments enrolling 261 students in Medicine and 106 in dentistry.  The Dean commended the graduating class’s relentless endeavors and perseverance to reach at this important milestone in their professional careers and urged them to demonstrate the expected ethical standards and values as health professionals.

A representative of the graduating batch asserted that the commencement of their graduation shoulders greater responsibility on them as new health professionals and as they strive to serve the public with dedication.

Established in 2004, the Orotta School of Medicine and Dentistry has so far graduated a total of 229 Medical Doctors.
