ID-mowlid celebrated nation wide

Id-Mowlid Al-Nebi was celebrated  across the nation on Wednesday, 23  December this week.

Asmara, 26 December 2015 – Id-Mowlid Al-Nebi was celebrated  across the nation on Wednesday, 23  December this week.

The  observance at   the  Al- Khulafae Al-Rashidin here in the capital was attended by  senior government  and PFDJ officials, religious leaders, Ambassadors and diplomats as we as thousands of the faithful.

The Eritrean  Mufti, Sheik Al- Amin Osman Al-Amin, presided over  the  religious observance. In a  message conveyed on the occasion, the Mufti called on the faithful to  practice mutual co- operation and extend a  helping hand to the needy. Sheik Al-Amin also wished the Eritrean people at home and abroad a happy New Year and peace and prosperity.

The Chairman of the Awkaf in Asmara, Mr. Mohammed-Seid Beshir, spoke on the background and significance  of the religious holiday.

Mr. Mohammed-Seid underlined that  the  central message and theme of the holiday is to instil in us and nurture healthy norms and attitudes  of social harmony that transcend differences of any kind.
