Development and infrastructure programs worth of more than 80 million Nakfa implemented in the Southern Region in the year 2015.
Asmara, 9 January 2016 – Development and infrastructure programs worth of more than 80 million Nakfa implemented in the Southern Region in the year 2015. This was disclosed at an assessment meeting conducted in Mendefera on 4 and 5 January.
According to the report presented 4 dams, 2 micro dams as well as 20 water diversion schemes, 17 schools and 2 health centres were built. Moreover, a renovation activity of 15 schools and 4 health centres was also conducted.The administrator of the region Mr. Efrem Gebrekrstos commended the integrated efforts demonstrated for the success of the development programs. He also said that more efforts will be exerted on water and soil conservation programs.
Ms. Fana Tesfamariam, work manager in the region, noted on the exemplary initiatives to taken
with regards raising awareness on the land proclamation and assistance of the disabled as well
as the peoaceful conflict resolution between the villages of Adi-Gurd and Adi-Moro and the ladn dispute between Degra and Hadish-Adi.
Finally, Mr. Efrem Gebrekrstos said that the Independence jubilee celebrations, installing solar system at the community courts, building and renovating infrastructure and social service provision institutions are the priority activities for the year 2016.
