Asmara, 20 January 2016 – A seminar was held on January 16th to discuss the preparations for Eritrea’s 25th Independence Day celebrations.
The seminar was attended by various Subzone Administrators and representatives of different offices.
Chairman of the National Holidays Coordinating Committee, Ambassador Zemede Tekle, gave insights about the preparations of this year’s independence festivities and stated that a series of programs are scheduled for recapitulating, capturing, celebrating the essence and zeitgeist of Eritrea’s collective achievements over the past 25 years.
Ambassador Zemede explained that, in total, there would be seven different wide-ranging programs, focusing on the representative, popular portrayals of Eritrea’s past political, economic, social and cultural journey.
Central Region Governor, Major General Rommedan Osman Awleay, indicated that residents of the Central Region were preparing for the historic celebrations with patriotic enthusiasm.
To mark Eritrea’s 25th independence celebrations, there will be a torchlight-carrying ceremony, which has already commenced with the torchbearers lighting their torch at Eritrea’s center of Armed Struggle Nakfa. The torch is due to arrive in the capital city on the eve of Independence Day.
