Keren Mayor on Land Proclamation

The Mayor of Keren, Mr. Zerzghi Dawit, stated that the Proclamation on Land Usage will be the main issue of concern in the upcoming year. Asmara, 2 February 2016 – The Mayor of Keren, Mr. Zerzghi Dawit, stated that the Proclamation on Land Usage will be the main issue of concern in the upcoming year. He made clear that when it is said that land is the property of the government, it is obvious, because no one but the government along with its stakeholders administers it. Furthermore, he stated that the proclamation was intended to uphold the rights of citizens in the proper usage of land and to assure equal opportunities for all citizens.

Additionally, Mr. Zerzghi discussed different ways of administering the land owned by the village, improvements in administration, and that the government has new measures to be implemented that will benefit the people of the area.

Furthermore, mentioning that the rights of women in every field are guaranteed, the administrator hoped for keen participation of the people on preservation and utilization of land that has been transferred in ownership across generations.

Participants at the event recommended allotting land allotting prior to the start of the summer season, and enquired for the provision of a self-plan and its immediate application.
