Tens of thousands benefiting from National Micro Saving and Loan Program
Asmara, March 5 2016 – At an assessment meeting conducted on March 1st and 2nd in Keren, the Micro Saving and Loan program announced that 53 thousand nationals have become beneficiaries of the program. According to the report presented at the meeting, 2015 saw the program disburse over 279 million Nakfa to customers and collect over 386 million Nakfa with interest included.
The program, which provides loans, helps nationals improve their livelihood.
The Ac/Manager of the Program, Mr. Tafla Asmerom, called on beneficiaries to properly design their action plans, pay back their loans on time, and abide by financial regulations.
The Secretary of the PFDJ of the Anseba region, Ms. Amete Neguse, said that the Micro Saving and Loan program has significantly contributed to the improvement of livelihoods of many nationals, and she called on beneficiaries to identify areas of businesses with which they could actively and productively engage themselves.

Asmara, March 5 2016 – A livestock fattening project is underway in Gerset, as part of a local agricultural project.
The project head, Mr. Hailezghi Habte, indicated that a total of 10 thousand sheep and 500 cattle are receiving the modern treatment. Importantly, the project will support productivity and encourage sustainable livelihoods.
Increase in Female Participation in Education within Adobha Sub-zone
Asmara, March 5 2016 -Reports indicated that female participation in education has risen in Adobha sub-zone, Northern Red Sea region.
According to Mr. Abubeker Ali, part of the teaching staff, an impressive 52% students in the sub-zone are females. Reports also indicated that a number of junior boarding schools are providing educational services.
