Educational Assessment in the Central Region

The Ministry of Education, Central Region Branch, held an assessment meeting in Asmara on March 4 last week.

 

Asmara, 9 March 2016 – The Ministry of Education, Central Region Branch, held an assessment meeting in Asmara on March 4 last week. The central theme of the meeting was to assess the overall performance of the schooling system in the Central Region and to explore ways and means of strengthening the parents-teachers-students triangular stakeholder relationship.

Participants of the meeting noted that the efforts to encourage greater enrollment of women in education has shown satisfactory results. This occurred within an overall increment of total student enrollment. The participants also mulled issues and concrete methods of capacity building for school directors, instructors and supervisors.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Belay Habteghaber, Head of the MoI Central Region Branch, described the efforts that were underway by the Ministry and emphasized the indispensable role that the community should play to overcome the various challenges.

There are about 153,000 students in 314 schools in the Central Region.
