Call for increased efforts to raise agricultural output

The Minister of Agriculture, Mr. Arefaine Berhe, has called for increased efforts to raise agricultural output and thereby ensure food security.

Asmara, 19 March 2016 – The Minister of Agriculture, Mr. Arefaine Berhe, has called for increased efforts to raise agricultural output and thereby ensure food security.

Speaking at a seminar he conducted for students of Hamelmalo College of Agriculture, the Minister pointed out that due attention is being given to the task of raising farm output both in quantity and scope on the basis of modern machinery and the application of modern farming methods.

Likewise, the Dean of the College, Mr. Semere Amlesom, reminded the students to promote soil and water conservation, as well as the construction of micro-dams and promoting forestry in the process.
