The National Association of Mentally Impaired provided training for 42 psychologists, neurologists and parents on the treatment of victims of Down syndrome and Autism.
Asmara, 23 March 2016 – The National Association of Mentally Impaired provided training for 42 psychologists, neurologists and parents on the treatment of victims of Down syndrome and Autism.
The chairman of the association, Mr. Berhane Bokretsion said that with the establishment of the association and the sustainable awareness raising programs the public has come to understand the problems of the victims and minimize discrimination.
Dr. Thomas Derikson, German national and one of the trainers, said that the victims have the difficulty of expressing themselves as they wish to and called on parents to make due follow up on their children.
The German Physiotherapists, Ms. Renate Kropp and Ms. Vera Mareya Pashimin on their part said that the victim children have all rights equally to those normal children and if they are provided proper health and social treatment they could develop. The association which was established in 2010 under the auspices of the Ministry of Labor and Human Welfare receives assistance from the Ministries of Health and Education.
