Anniversary of the liberation of Nakfa Celebrated

The 39th Anniversary of the historic liberation of Nakfa town was celebrated with various public programmes.

Asmara, 30 March 2016 – The 39th Anniversary of the historic liberation of Nakfa town was celebrated with various public programmes.

Mr. Mekonen Tesfamariam, PFDJ Secretary in Nakfa sub-zone, stated that the annual celebration of the historic event holds a special place in the hearts and minds of nationals as Nakfa embodies the national spirit of  resilience and freedom.

The celebration was invigorated by the performances of the Keyahti Inbaba Cultural Troupe.

Once liberated on 23 March 1977, the town of NaKfa never fell again into enemy hands in the protracted, thirty-year war that saw several reversals.
