Pre-natal treatment on the rise

The head of the community health in the Northern Red Sea region Mr. Zedingil Gorgorios disclosed that with sustainable awareness raising programs the number of pregnant women seeking pre-natal treatment has significantly increased.

Massawa, 13 April 2016- The head of the community health in the Northern Red Sea region Mr. Zedingil Gorgorios disclosed that with sustainable awareness raising programs the number of pregnant women seeking pre-natal treatment has significantly increased. He said that at an assessment meeting conducted on 6 April in Nakfa.

He further indicated that more than 60% of the pregnant women are receiving pre-natal treatment while around 70% of them deliver in health facilities.

The administrator of the sub-zone Mr. Idris Ali Beshir explained increased awareness of the public on health related issues has paramount importance in bringing about behavioral changes and avoiding the practice of harmful practices including underage marriages, FGM and others.

The participants on their part expressed appreciation for the different social service provision institutions put in place in their area and the impact they made in the improvement of their livelihoods.
