Rwanda genocide observed

The 22nd anniversary of the Rwanda genocide that took place in 1994 and that took more than 800,000 lives was observed in Asmara. The event was organized by the office of the UN in Eritrea.

Asmara, 26 April 2016- The 22nd anniversary of the Rwanda genocide that took place in 1994 and that took more than 800,000 lives was observed in Asmara. The event was organized by the office of the UN in Eritrea.

The event was attended by senior government and PFDJ officials, Ambassadors, diplomats as well as representatives of the international organizations.

The participants observed the occasion with candle vigil. The Rwanda cycling national team which was here to participate at the Tour Eritrea 2016 also gave briefings on their first-hand experiences of the genocide.

The Rwanda genocide took part in 1994 and within 100 days more than 800,000 people lost their lives.
