Malaria prevalence significantly reduced

The head of the MOH branch in the Northern Red Sea region, Dr. Yohannes Tekeste said that thanks to the thorough awareness raising campaigns to control the prevalence of malaria significant achievement has been registered.

Massawa, 27 April 2016- The head of the MOH branch in the Northern Red Sea region, Dr. Yohannes Tekeste said that thanks to the thorough awareness raising campaigns to control the prevalence of malaria significant achievement has been registered.  He said that at a meeting conducted on 23 April in the port city of Massawa.

At the meeting it has been reported that with the heavy rain of 2015, malaria instances have been registered in Ginda and Massawa and with the integrated efforts on the part of the health professionals and the public it was possible to control the occurrence of the disease.

As part of the efforts to control the diseases, 50 thousand impregnated bed nets were distributed to the public. 250 volunteer health workers were also deployed across the region.
