The 11th sports festival of Eritreans residing in the Scandinavian countries commenced today, 05 May, in Stockholm, Sweden, according to the coordinating Committee.
Asmara, 05 May 2016- The 11th sports festival of Eritreans residing in the Scandinavian countries commenced today, 05 May, in Stockholm, Sweden, according to the coordinating Committee.
The festival that will continue until 07 May includes football matches, athletics as well as other sports competitions and teams from Sweden, Norway and Denmark are taking part.
The objective of the festival is aimed at strengthening the unity and inculcating love of country among the Eritreans residing in those three countries as well as enabling the participants identify their talents and inclinations.
The sports festival began in 2005 in cooperation with Eritrean community members, interested individuals and the Eritrean Embassy in Gothenburg, Sweden.
In other news, Mr. Gilai Gerezgiher, an Eritrean residing in the US, who is here to participate at the Silver Jubilee Independence Day celebrations donated 11 thousand Dollars and cloths to the Abraha Bahta School for the visually impaired.
The director of the school expressing appreciation for the donation said that it has created a moral boost to both the students and the staff of the school.
