Asmara, 05 May 2016- The Schools Independence Day week of the Central region commenced today, 05 May, in a ceremony conducted at the Irafaile School here in Asmara.
At the event officials from the MOE and the Central region as well as parents and students took part. The Minister of Education, Mr. Semere Russom and the Governor of the Central region, Maj. Gen. Romodan Aweliai opened the pictorial exhibition.
The head of the MOE branch office in the region, Mr. Belai Habtegabir said that the event will create a platform for transferring the vibrant history of the Eritrean people to the young generation. He also indicated that 283 schools from the Central region are taking part.
In related news, the Central region has finalized preparations to colorfully celebrate the Silver Jubilee Independence Day anniversary that will be celebrated under the theme “Quarter Century of Resilience and Development”.
The chairman of the Holidays Coordinating Committee, Mr. Asmerom Tsegabrhan indicated that the preparations include carnival shows showcasing the history of perseverance, commitment and the culture of work of the Eritrean people. All the sub-zones and the public and private institutions in the region are also finalizing their preparation to celebrate the day.
He also said that the passion to enthusiastically celebrate the Silver Jubilee Independence Day attests to the love and honor the Eritrean people have towards their independence.
