Boarding schools playing significant role in raising students’ enrollment

The Director General of Social Services in the region, Mr. Humed Ali disclosed that the modern boarding schools in the Southern Red Sea region are playing significant role in raising the students’ enrollment in general and that of female students in particular.

Assab, 06 May 2016- The Director General of Social Services in the region, Mr. Humed Ali disclosed that the modern boarding schools in the Southern Red Sea region are playing significant role in raising the students’ enrollment in general and that of female students in particular.

He indicated that prior to independence there were only 14 school confined to providing education at elementary and junior high school level, and that to date with the huge investment made 62 schools have been constructed ranging from kindergarten to high school level. Among the schools constructed 3 are boarding schools. There are also other schools providing adult education.

Mr. Humed further indicated that there are 2 Referral Hospitals, 2 community hospitals and 12 health centers constructed after independence and providing health services to the public. With the expansion of the health facilities in the region the number of women delivering in the facilities is growing, he also said.
