Infrastructural Activities in Northern Red Sea Region

Mr. Andemichael Solomon, Director General of the Infrastructural Development in the Northern Red Sea region, explained that infrastructural activities that have been carried out in the NRSR have positively impacted the livelihood of a number of nationals.

Asmara, 12 May 2016 :- Mr. Andemichael Solomon, Director General of the Infrastructural Development in the Northern Red Sea region, explained that infrastructural activities that have been carried out in the NRSR have positively impacted the livelihood of a number of nationals.

He indicated that commendable achievements have been registered in the provision of potable water supply, healthcare service, education, communications, and master plans of cities as well as construction of water reservoirs.

According to the Director General projects worth of 250 million Nakfa have been implemented including drilling of water wells, construction of 80 water reservoirs along with 200 water distribution centers  as well as around 300 km  water pipelines .

He also indicated that the 45 micro dams in Nakfa sub-zone, 17 in Ghindae sub-zone, 6 in Afabet sub-zone are providing significant contribution in the development of the underground water.

With regards to the healthcare facilities Mr. Andemichael said that 23 healthcare stations, 9 healthcare centers, 4 hospitals including a referral hospital and two maternity hospitals worth of 500 million Nakfa have been constructed.

He further point that 240 kilometers of  asphalt and 318 kilometers of dirt roads have been constructed and renovated and have extensively alleviated the transportation problem in the region.
