Schools distribution in NRS region increases

The head of the MOE in the Northern Red Sea region, Mr. Reshid Mohammed Osman indicated that the schools distribution in the region has tremendously increased.

Massawa, 13 May 2016- The head of the MOE in the Northern Red Sea region, Mr. Reshid Mohammed Osman indicated that the schools distribution in the region has tremendously increased. According to him the number of schools before independence was only 28 and currently there are 277 schools providing educational service to more than 50,500 students.

He further noted that the opportunity for education was very limited and that owing to the huge investment made to ensure equal access to education the school enrolment has reached from 13% to 83%.

As part of the efforts to provide educational opportunity to the remote areas of the country, 70 schools were constructed in Adobha sub-zone and children who lead nomadic life are being provided education in 22 educational centers.

Currently in the Northern Red Sea region there are 42 kindergartens, 159 elementary, 63 junior and 13 high schools.
