Keren: Students Take Initiatives to Augment Blood Bank Resources

Students of Secondary Schools in Keren Sub-zone and Hamelmalo College of Agriculture have taken initiatives to augment the resources of Blood Bank.

Keren, 7 June 2016 – Students of Secondary Schools in Keren Sub-zone and Hamelmalo College of Agriculture have taken initiatives to augment the resources of Blood Bank.

Accordingly, in voluntary blood donations a total of 289 units of blood have been collected in which 85 units are from Hamelmalo College of Agriculture and 204 units are from secondary schools in Keren Sub-zone.

In an interview he conducted with ERINA, Mr. Chine Werqe, Secretary of voluntary blood donation branch in Anseba region indicated that the main objective of the program is to promote the availability of safe and abundant blood and that there exist 120 members of voluntary blood donations incorporated with in NUEYS and Secondary schools in Keren.

There are also plans to organize membership for RH-Negative in the near future.

The students expressed readiness to promote blood donation in an enhanced manner.

Mr. Fisehaye Atoberhan commended the students for their praiseworthy initiative and called for maintaining such practice.
