Asmara, 7 June 2016 – Youth Week was conducted in the Northern Red Sea region from 1 to 3 June 2016 in Afabet town.
Speaking at the event the head of the NUEYS in the region, Mr. Idris Esmail, explained that the objective of the practice is to create platform for sharing experience and promoting the creative potentials of the youth.
The Administrator of Afabet sub-zone, Mr. Ahmed Mohammed-Nur, noted that building a prosperous nation is mainly the responsibility of the youth and called on the participants of the event to strengthen their organizational capacity and thus live up to expectations.
The Youth Week highlighted general knowledge competitions, debating, exhibition, cultural shows and sports competitions.
At a seminar he conducted to the participants on 3 June, Mr. Saleh Ahmedin, Chairman of the NUEYS, explained that the Youth Week event in the region was part of the activities coducted in connection with the Jubilee Independence Day anniversary of independence.
Mr. Saleh also gave extensive briefings as regards the role and challenges of Eritrean youth in the struggle for independence as well as the accomplishments registered in the post-independence period.
Awards were handed to individuals and team winners in different competitions.
