Vitamin A vaccination underway in Central region

Vitamin A vaccination program is underway in the Central region from today, 09 June.

Asmara, 09 June 2016- Vitamin A vaccination program is underway in the Central region from today, 09 June.

The program which will be conducted until 13 June is being conducted in 35 health facilities and in 250 temporary centers.

The vitamin A is provided to children from 6 months to 5 years of age and that is believed to significantly reduce the mortality rate due to measles and diarrhea diseases.

The head of the Edaga Hamus community hospital, St. Miniet Woldai indicated that thanks to the sustainable awareness raising campaign many parents are encouraged to bring their children to the health facilities for vaccination.

90 thousand children in the Central region are expected to take vitamin A vaccination.
