MOLHW Extends Assistance to Families of Martyrs

The Director of the Welfare branch in the Ministry of Labor and Human Welfare, Mr. Zerai Tekleab underlined that extending care and support to martyrs’ families is the priority task of the people and government of Eritrea.

Asmara, 20 June 2016- The Director of the Welfare branch in the Ministry of Labor and Human Welfare, Mr. Zerai Tekleab underlined that extending care and support to martyrs’ families is the priority task of the people and government of Eritrea.

Pointing out that the government makes an expenditure of 350 million Nakfa annually to assist martyrs’ families; Mr. Zerai indicated that over 3.7 Billion Nakfa has been disbursed for the same cause from 2004 to 2015.

The Director also outlined that Eritreans residing inside the country and abroad have contributed over 153 million Nakfa to augment martyr’s trust fund and that there are plans to disburse the monetary assistance to around 15,000 families of martyrs in the near future.

Furthermore, the director explained that 980 families of martyrs have become self supportive through the support they were provided and 118 families of martyrs received vocational skills aimed at enabling them become productive members of the society.
