Asmara, 24 June 2016- Eritreans residing in different countries commemorated June 20 Martyrs Day with patriotic zeal.
According to reports the Eritreans residing in Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates, Israel, Germany, Austria, France, the Republic of Sudan, Australia, the US, South Africa, South Sudan, Egypt, Kenya and Canada commemorated Martyrs Day with candle vigil.
The nationals paid tribute to their martyrs and expressed conviction to live up to expectations in supporting the families of the martyrs.
At the commemoration event conducted in Jeddah, the participants took the responsibility of supporting 85 families of martyrs and the NUEW branch on top of supporting 12 families of martyrs donated 2,700 Saudi Riyal towards martyrs trust.
In the same vein, the residents of Adi-Keih sub-zone donated more than 82 thousand Nakfa towards martyrs trust. The donation was disbursed to 174 families of martyrs.
The head of the Ministry of Labor and Social Welfare branch in the sub-zone, Mr. Gebriel Kahsai indicated that in the past six months around 5 million Nakfa has been disbursed to 1723 families of martyrs.
