Blood donation to enrich blood transfusion center

The Voluntary Blood Donors Association in the Gash Barka region reiterated readiness to augment blood contribution aimed at enriching the blood transfusion center.

Barentu, 27 June 2016- The Voluntary Blood Donors Association in the Gash Barka region reiterated readiness to augment blood contribution aimed at enriching the blood transfusion center.

They made the pledge a meeting they conducted on 24 June Barentu in connection with the International Blood Donation Day which is marked for the 13th time at national level.

Mr. Ghebremesqel Embaye, Chairman of the Voluntary Blood Donors Association in the Gash Barka region said that the association is exerting efforts to set up a blood transfusion center in the region.

The administrator of the sub-zone, Mr. Awrelio Jakomino said that lack of blood has been the major cause for the mother and child mortality in the region and underlined that boosting the number of blood donors is vital in meeting the desired goal.

The National Voluntary Blood Donors Association of the Gash Barka region was established in 2015.
