Women Farmers Register Commendable Progress

The members of women farmers association in Emni-Hayli sub-zone expressed that they are expecting good harvest from their vegetable farms. Mendefera, 29 June 2016 – The members of women farmers association in Emni-Hayli sub-zone expressed that they are expecting good harvest from their vegetable farms. The women are cultivating vegetables through irrigation form the Dirko Dam.

Ms. Kdisti Araya, chairwoman of the women’s association “Awet Farm Association”, indicated that the women farmers have great expectations to collect good harvest from their irrigation based farm activities.

According to Mr. Mengesteab Teame, head of Agriclture Ministry’s branch in the sub-zone, the women farmers are registering promising progress through making use of the technical advice they received from the ministry.

The Awet Women Farmers Associatio comprising 95 members and was established in 2009 as part of the initiative the Government is taking to assist families of martyrs through putting advanced agricultural infrastructure in  place.
