Mendefera: Students participating in Summer Work Program

Students of Mendefera subzone are actively participating in this year’s Summer Work Program, according to Mr. Abraham Hagos, administrator of the subzone.

 

Mendefera, 1 August 2016- Students of Mendefera subzone are actively participating in this year’s Summer Work Program, according to Mr. Abraham Hagos, administrator of the subzone.

He further indicated that the students are engaged in the construction of terraces and embankments as well as in planting various tree seedlings.

Noting that teachers and agricultural experts are playing a crucial role in the success of the program, Mr. Abraham pointed out on the significance of the SWP in creating a working habit and exchange of experience amongst the participants.

Mr. Woldu Ghebregergis, an expert in wildlife and forestry at the Ministry of Agriculture branch in the subzone, said that 107,000 tree seedlings have been prepared to be planted and that 18,000 tree seedlings have already been planted and are in promising condition owing to this year’s satisfactory rainy season.
