Asmara 09, August 2016- The administration of the Central region is staging an exhibition depicting Asmara’s historic and art deco buildings at the Festival Eritrea 2016 at THE Expo G3 Hall.
A detailed research documenting information as regards Asmara’s building heritages prepared in collaboration with varied national institutions and which was later delivered to UNESCO in February 2016 has been part of the items being displayed in the exhibition organized by the administration of the Central region.
In the extensive research conducted to make a record of heritages of Asmara, around 4,3000 buildings, 257 streets and 38 open public areas has been registered, according to Mr. Asmerom Tsegabrhan, head of sports and cultural affairs in the Central region.
During the Italian colonial era, in a period between 1935 and 1941, Asmara became among the fast growing and most civilized cities in Africa.
