Commendable achievements registered in Education sector

At an assessment meeting conducted on 17 August, it has been reported that commendable integrated activities have been conducted in the Central region to strengthen the teaching and learning process.

Asmara, 18 August 2016- At an assessment meeting conducted on 17 August, it has been reported that commendable integrated activities have been conducted in the Central region to strengthen the teaching and learning process.

According to the report presented, from the 150 thousand students who have been enrolled in schools in the 2015/2016 school colander from the kindergarten to high school level 87% of them have passed to the next level.

Mr. Belai Habtegabir, head of the Ministry of Education branch in the region, commented on the importance of making regular progress assessment meetings to identify the strong and weak sides, and that the strong relations on the part of the teachers, parents and students is vital for the enhanced development of education.

The D. G. of Social Services Department at the MOE, Mr. Kaleab Tesfaselasie also expressed his expectation that the salary increment made by the Government will have significant contribution in the strengthening of the teaching and learning process. He also called for the strengthening of the inspection unit to oversee that the teachers are living up to expectations.

In the Central region there are 159 kindergartens, 115 elementary, 48 junior and 25 high schools.
