Massawa, 11 October 2017- Commendable effort is being exerted to improve the teaching and learning process in the Massawa sub-zone. The comment was made by Mr. Girmai Zerayakob, head of Education at the sub zone.
Indicating that encouraging outstanding students, strengthening school administrations, eliminating unnecessary time consumption, well documentation of student records were some of the activities conducted, Teacher Girmai called for the reinforcement the role and contribution of teachers, students and parents for the sustainability of the achievement.
Teacher Girmai also reported that the problem of late start of education has been alleviated owing to the concerted effort on the part of teachers, students and parents and that the avoidable waste of time has significantly been reduced.
Thanks to the opportunity created by Massawa municipality to alleviate the existed transportation problem, more than 2 thousand students are given the opportunity of free city transportation. Transportation services are also provided to schools set up in Emberemi and Hirgigo, on the outskirts of the port city of Massawa.
In Massawa subzone, there are 21 schools including 2 secondary schools, 4 Junior, 11 elementary and 3 pre-schools providing education service to 7 thousand students.
