The regional Assembly of the Northern Red Sea region has conducted its 14th regular meeting on 12-13 December in the port city of Massawa under the theme “Lying Pillars for Vibrant Development”.
Massawa, 15 December 2017 – The regional Assembly of the Northern Red Sea region has conducted its 14th regular meeting on 12-13 December in the port city of Massawa under the theme “Lying Pillars for Vibrant Development”.
The Chairman of the regional Assembly, Mr. Ibrahim Ali Sheik, stated that the Assembly, as a bridge between the people and the government, has huge responsibility in listening and addressing the demands of the public as well as conducting follow up of the implementation of the set out development programs. He also called for the strong participation for the realization of the charted out programs for 2018.
The G. D. of the Northern Red Sea region Mr. Kibrom Andemichael on his part indicating that commendable activities are being exerted for boosting the economic growth of the region, called on the public to enhance contribution in water and soil conservation popular campaigns.
At the meeting, reports regarding the activities implemented in 2017 such as development programs in general, infrastructure, social services, agricultural developments, water and soil conservation activities, as well as administrative issues in particular were presented and extensive discussions were held.
Concluding its meeting, the Assembly called for concerted endeavors on enhancing female student’s school enrolment, eradication of harmful practices, increasing environmental sanitation and preservation, as well as strengthening forestation activities.
The Assembly also adopted different recommendation including the acceleration of the construction of health centers in Ela-Babu and Bada, alleviation of water supply problem in Dahlak as well as renovation of the roads linking Afabet-Sheib, Sheib-Gahtelay, and Massawa-Foro.
